Five Tips to Help You Stay Hydrated This Winter

Cold weather! Yay!

I think the biggest health obstacle that comes with cold weather for me (besides Christmas fudge, obviously), is probably staying hydrated. I want to drink water when I'm hot in the summer, but it's just easy to neglect in cooler weather, isn't it?

Here are five tips to help you stay hydrated this cold season!! <3

What I'm Wearing Wednesday // with Janan

Hello beautiful friends!

Ahhh! It’s Thanksgiving week! The weather finally turned cold! I’m going to Disney World on Friday!!!

Care to take a guess about which one I’m most excited about...?

Anyways. Here is one of the outfits that I’ll be wearing in Florida this week. ;)

Modest Monday // with Janan

Hello beautiful friends!

Sweater weather is finally here and I’m absolutely loving it! Since my coloring is Winter (look up Color Analysis), I always get so happy when I can finally start pulling out my winter colored wardrobe. One of my favorite sweaters is this silver and white beauty—a gorgeous combination to wear during the holiday season! My outfit here would be perfect for hosting a dinner party at home to keep things classy, and still comfortable. A pop of black keeps the palette neutral, but not too light.

Modest Monday // with Halee

Hey, everyone! Long time, no blogging, eh? This is only my second post ever; I've been absent because I haven't been very proud of my wardrobe choices..... But thankfully I've finally been able to work something together for an outdoor wedding I went to last Saturday. Here we go!

Introducing: Friends of Modest on Purpose!

Hello, Beautifuls!

My name is Kimberly, and if you're new to this blog, I extend my warmest welcome!

This morning I'm writing from foggy Oklahoma to tell you about an exciting development (and opportunity) here at Modest on Purpose!

We want YOU!

And, of course, I can't even think that phrase without....

If you like what you see around here, and are interested in adding some inspiration to the collection, yourself, we are giving you that opportunity! 'Friends of Modest on Purpose' (which will probably morph into: Friends of MoP) is all for you, girls! <3

I know the few of us aren't the only "fashionable" ones out there! Do you have a favorite outfit others would really like to see? Do you have some fun modesty tips or words of advice to the girls coming up behind you on this path? Is there a store or Etsy that should be getting way more traffic, and you have a piece or two from them that you want to shine? We want to see!

Modest Monday // with Janan

Hello beautiful friends!

I’m so excited to be sharing my first Modest Monday post with you! If you’ve already read my Interview with Kimberly, you’ll know that my family and I are pilots. A few days ago we decided to go up and visit a little airport that we hadn’t been to before for lunch and some sightseeing.

I wore one of my favorite casual dresses for the short 30-minute flight.

Modest Monday // with Mykaela

Happy Fall, Ladies!! I am so excited to be entering a new, beautiful, splendidly gorgeous season. I love autumn for sooo many reasons, I'm not even going to start. I'm turning 20 on Tuesday, and it's the start of a "new year" for me. Adult responsibilities are no longer something able to be blissfully ignored. ;) Haha!

On Health & Hygiene // with Kimberly

Hi, lovelies!

This Monday I wanted to branch out.

I think Modesty, for many years, has been given a bad face because it could look like shapeless trashbag-dresses and unkempt, greasy hair, and shoes with the soles falling of. Nice and modest, eh?

Well, if that's what you've got, that's what you've got. But, for most of us, that's not being a very good witness for the Kingdom of God, nor a good example of living a set-apart, purposeful existence in Christ's name. Let's do our best with what we've got!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: "Modesty is the outward manifestation of humility."

Take it into perspective. It's a big picture that none of us have figured out just perfectly, but it's a goal. Let's look nice, stay clean, and take care of our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit, and not give ourselves too much credit in it. Let's try to reflect our Creator. He likes making things beautiful and orderly.

Maybe that's all just a jumble of fragmented ideas, but I don't want anybody to think that I have anything figured out just right. Because I don't. I just want to try. I want to stand in the right direction, and try my best. Direction over perfection. <3

These aren't necessarily the best things in the entire world, but this is what I have:

Meet Janan: A MoP Blogger Interview

Happy Monday, Ladies!

Kimberly here with another blogger interview! Yay! Kind of was hoping to get another one in back, well, two months ago. But oh well. We're here today, and I'm happy for it!

Today I'm super excited to formally/officially introduce all of you to our newest Modest on Purpose blog team member, Janan! Janan and I met first in July of 2013 at Family Camp on the Bill Rice Ranch in Murfeesboro, TN. We found out we were both from Texas and loved piano, and the rest is basically history. Long story short, though, our Pen Pal-ship turned into me traveling with her family on their missions trip to Burma/Thailand earlier this year (which you can read about + look at pictures of here). After all of that... we can't not be friends. We're glued together forever. Metaphorically speaking, of course. I left her behind when I moved up here to OK.

You can learn a bit more about my beautiful friend on her addition to our About Page, or just keep reading! This is, as a matter of fact, her blogging debut! And I'm excited (how many times have I said that word now...?) for you all to get acquainted! So be sure to comment after you read. So she can say hi and all that. :)

Femininity vs. Feminism: Explained

Hi, everyone!

How has your summer been? I feel like I've barely talked to any of you over these past few months!! I miss our heart-to-hearts!! Today, I just want to get something out there that has been on my heart for almost a year now, but I never could think of a good angle to take with it. Let's just take this time to pour our hearts onto the table and be honest with each other, and with ourselves, shall we?

Well... in the process of being a blogger + writing a lot + having to explain what I write about + having to explain who I am, I ended up falling into the deep end of labels. It was kind of a panic/claw for the surface/I can't breathe moment when I realized that to be a real-deal blogger, I was going to have to box myself in. I was supposed to find one niche, and be able to communicate said niche so the people that belonged to my blog would find me.

Why did this scare me?, you might be wondering. Well, it probably goes back to the fact that I've always been kind of peculiar. Titling my personal blog with that exact adjective was even my idea. I'm super unique and odd and set-apart, and not only am I okay with that, but I love it!! But now I have a blog. So I can only be like five adjectives. I can only have like three hobbies, and one of them should be photography. Boxed in.

In the semi-organized chaos of it all, I've not only learned several new descriptive phrasing techniques, but I've also discovered who I am. Not that it wasn't always there; I just know how to communicate it to everybody else, now. Included in my extra-large box with about a bazillion other little things that make me who I am, I now feel comfortable proclaiming:

     I am a feminine anti-feminist.

Wait. Did you just catch that? Yeah, that's what I thought. You might need to read it twice.

... feminine anti-feminist? What on earth?

I can see your gears turning.

     But it's true!!

Care to dig into the why with me?

eShakti Dress Review + Discount Code // by Elizabeth

So many of my friends and fellow bloggers have been talking about eShakti for some time now, and I've been wanting to try them for myself! So to say I was thrilled when eShakti contacted me about doing a review for them, would be the understatement of the year!

The hardest part was choosing a dress! There were so many options to choose from, and knowing that I could change out the neckline, sleeves, and length of a dress gave me even more options! Talk about analysis paralysis (lol!). But I finally chose this dress- the Metal Zip Pocket Cotton Knit Dress!! I'm also going to show y'all some more of my favorite picks, at the end of this post.

I was a little nervous about getting this dress. I had never had a custom dress before, so I was afraid I would measure something wrong! I did have a couple of questions, but I called customer service and they were so very helpful! :) Once I got the dress and tried it on, I found that it fit perfectly. Seriously, I have never had a dress fit me so well! It's as if this dress was made just for me....wait, it was! (Lol!)

Modest Monday // by Elizabeth

Hey y'all! A friend of mine recently went through some of her clothes, and before donating them, she thought of me! I was super excited to get all of them, but I've fallen in love with this particular dress!

It fit me perfectly, but I knew it didn't quite fit my modesty standards. But no worries! There always seems to be a solution for that kind of problem, so I just did a couple of quick fixes ;)

The first thing I did was put a basic black tee under it. Because the top was also black, you really couldn't tell (unless you got up close) that it wasn't made that way. Easy-peasy ;)

Now for the length. Normally this would be a bigger problem that would require me to sew extra length on or something like that. But if you read my first blog post, you remember me raving about my Peekaboo Chic skirt/dress extender. Seriously, this thing has been a lifesaver! Someone told me that you couldn't tell I was wearing something like that under it, that it looked like it was just made that way. Yay! Mission accomplished :) And did I mention that the dress has pockets?

I'm not a huge pocket fan like most people, but I still thought it was neat! I threw on the red necklace so that it would give the outfit a pop of color. I love how modest I was able to be in this dress, and that I didn't have to make any compromises!

Outfit details:

Dress: GNW brand
Shirt: Gap brand
Extender: Peekaboo Chic
Shoes: Cato

So what are your favorite modesty hacks? I'd love to hear about them!

Modest Monday // by Mykaela

Well, it's Monday again already!! The weeks have been going by so crazy fast lately! :O Is it getting hot where you live? Here in North Central Washington, it's getting up into the upper 90's already. Yikes. Not sure if I'm ready for the sizzling summer yet. ;)

Today I have another oufit featuring my new Halftee! I've only worn it with dresses so far, but now that I have it, I think I'm going to start buying thrift store finds specifically to wear with it, lol! ;) This particular dress looks great with just the Halftee underneath.

Modest Monday // by Mykaela (+ Halftee discount code!)

Happy Monday, ladies! I hope all of you had a fantastic weekend! This has been an extremely exciting week for me, because I've confirmed plans to visit Kimberly in August, Lord willing!!!!! AAAHH! So very thrilled about that!

Anyway, for today's Modest Monday post, I'm doing a review on a wonderful wardrobe addition, Halftee! I'm sure some of you have heard of this company...they sell shirts meant specifically for layering. (Thus the name. ;) I was a little skeptical at first...I mean, a half shirt? Wouldn't it feel weird under your clothes or something? Well, from my experience, no! I got brown as a nice neutral option for my first time trying it.

Modest Monday // by Elizabeth

Okay y'all, I'm WAY behind on the midi skirt trend! (lol!) I have seen pictures and outfits all over Pinterest and Instagram, and have thought that they were SO cute on everyone else, but wasn't sure that it would look good on me. Then I was in Walmart a few weeks ago, and this skirt caught my eye! It was cute, and it wasn't too expensive, so I really wanted to get it, but I had no idea what I would wear it with or if I even would wear it at all. But I decided to go out on a limb and get it anyways. ;)

I asked a few other ladies what they thought and also looked up some ideas on Pinterest. A few days later, I found this shirt at the Goodwill, and tried them on together, and I was SOLD! Seriously, this is THE most comfortable skirt ever, and this outfit is WAY easier than it looks. I love how feminine I feel every time I put this skirt on! I added this necklace for a pop of color, and I think it compliments it well :) And you can't see in the picture, but I am wearing some dressier black sandals with it. I also think black flats look great with it!

Modest Monday // by Halee

Hey everyone! This is my first blog post on MOP and I'm ecstatic to join this community. I hope you all had a wonderfully refreshing weekend!

Here's the outfit I wore on Easter Sunday. I know that's been weeks ago now, but I still love the springy colors!

I try to stick to comfy and simple for church.... One of the worst things for me is squirming while you're trying to focus on the sermon.

Modest Monday // by Elizabeth

I'm so excited to do my first blog post!

Loving this Peekaboo-Chic
skirt extender!
Okay, so I found this dress at on clearance last year. I absolutely loved it! I was able to use the Sears Rewards card to get free shipping, and then found a coupon code online! If you've read my bio, you know that I don't pay retail for anything (lol!) I love to shop clearance, and when I'm shopping online, I always search for a coupon code! So the final cost for this dress was around $15! It retails for $70. My only disappointment was that it was a little too short for my modesty standards. So I had to put it in the closet until I figured out what to do with it, because there was no way I was getting rid of it!

That's when my Peekaboo-Chic skirt/dress extender saved the day! I just got it the other day, and it's been such a lifesaver! The one I'm wearing is the Bring on the Frill Layering Skirt. I hope to do another post soon showing you more of it!

Book Review + Giveaway!

Hi, ladies!

What a nice spring we're having here in Northeast Oklahoma! How are you all doing? Pollen getting to you yet? I had been hoping for a bit colder of a winter (I love snow, and we hadn't had any in all six years that we lived in Texas), but we only got a few inches all winter! Maybe next year...

Well, I'm excited to get the word out about this lovely book I just read!

Why I Don't "Come As I Am"

Most Christians of today know what "Come As You Are" means, when it comes to churches.

I, however, don't hear "we accept you!" as much as I hear "free ticket to wear pajamas to church!"

As much as I am in favor of all coming to church, dressed up or not, I believe there should be a "specialness", if you will, for the Christian when he or she prepares to worship at the house of God, being that they have an existing relationship with the Heavenly Father.

I'd like to take this post to explain, from the Bible, why I don't "Come As I Am" to church, and, in thus doing, encourage you to reconsider your view of church.
